Jamie L. Mosser, Kane County State's Attorney

About the State's Attorney:

Jamie L. Mosser

Jamie Mosser grew up in Illinois as one of four siblings raised by a single mother. Inspired by a strong sense of justice, she decided early in life to become an attorney.

Jamie earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Illinois State University and, in 2002, earned her Juris Doctor with a Certificate in Criminal Law from DePaul University College of Law.

Jamie began her legal career in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office from 2002 to 2005. During her time there, she prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases, from drug offenses to homicides.

In 2006, Jamie returned to Illinois and joined the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. As a prosecutor in Kane County, she served in the Domestic Violence Unit, Felony Unit, DUI Unit, Drug Rehabilitative Court, and the Special Prosecution Unit. In 2009, she became the head of the Domestic Violence Unit, where she led the development of the Domestic Violence Diversion Program, an initiative that held offenders accountable while giving survivors a greater voice in the legal process.

In 2015, Jamie transitioned into private practice and co-founded Klein & Mosser, LLC, where she handled a broad range of legal matters, including family law, criminal defense, real estate, and probate. During this time, she provided free and reduced-cost legal services to domestic violence survivors, and in 2017, she received the Kane County Bar Association's Pro Bono Award for her work.

In 2017, Jamie joined Prairie State Legal Services, where she focused on advocating for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Her work included family law cases, protective orders, Title IX proceedings, and crime victim advocacy.

In 2019, Jamie opened her own firm, Mosser & Eisenmenger Law, LLC, concentrating on real estate law, business transactions, and domestic violence protective orders.

Jamie was elected as Kane County State's Attorney in 2020. In 2024, voters re-elected her, making her the first two-term female State's Attorney in Kane County's history.

Throughout her time in office, Jamie has focused on criminal justice reform centered on public safety. She launched several programs aimed at addressing the underlying causes of criminal behavior, including the Collaborative Diversion Program, the DUI Rehabilitative Court, and the First Offender Weapons Deferred Prosecution Program. She also increased efficiency and consistency by restructured the office to follow a vertical prosecution model, and launched new specialized units to investigate and prosecute cases involving child exploitation and human trafficking.

Additionally, Jamie has been an advocate for public safety legislation in Springfield. She played a significant role in negotiating improvements to the SAFE-T Act, led the implementation of Illinois's elimination of cash bail, and helped refine Karina's Law, a measure removing firearms from domestic abusers.

Jamie currently serves on the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Elder Law and the Illinois Judicial Conference's Emerging Adults Task Force.

Jamie has three children and is proud to be raising them in the community that she serves.
